Find a Fuel-Efficient Car

Find a Fuel-Efficient Car

With the price of gasoline constantly on the rise, fuel is a big part of drivers’ budgets. For various reasons, drivers are not always ready to switch to hybrids or electric cars, for example. Finding a fuel-efficient car becomes a priority.

That’s why we introduce you to the most fuel-efficient cars, including models of all sizes.

Mitsubishi Mirage

If you’re looking for a subcompact car that will save you money all around, the Mitsubishi Mirage is certainly the most frugal gasoline-powered car with a combined fuel consumption of 6.2 L/100 km. On the highway, it consumes only 5.6 L/100 km.

Kia Rio

Often named the best subcompact on the market by references such as The Car Guide, the Kia Rio offers the same format as the Mitsubishi, but with a little more power. According to Jean-Sébastien Poudrier, automotive journalist for Auto Aubaine:

The Kia Rio is quite comfortable
and it’s a pretty fun little car to drive.”

It is equipped with a 1.6L engine that develops 120 horsepower and consumes only 6.7 L/100 km on average.

Toyota Corolla

Between its proven reliability and affordability, there’s a reason why the Toyota Corolla is the best-selling car in the world! It’s a practical and sensible choice, and in addition to its low price, it will cost you little at the pump. Depending on the version and year chosen, it can consume as little as 6.9 L/100 km.

Subaru Impreza

Still in the compact sedan category, the Subaru Impreza is interesting in many ways. On the one hand, the Subaru lineup offers all-wheel drive as standard equipment, making the Impreza an ideal sedan for winter or off-road driving. On the other hand, it offers a fuel consumption of only 7.4 L/100 km.

Toyota Camry

This mid-size sedan is larger and more powerful with its base 203 horsepower engine. However, depending on the model year, its average consumption is sometimes as low as 7.0 L/100 km, including 5.7 L/100 km on the highway!

Mazda CX-3

The latest generations of Mazda are focused on driving pleasure and have an aerodynamic look with their Kodo design. In the crossover range, the CX-3 does well with a combined fuel consumption of 7.7 L/100 km with front-wheel drive or 8.1 L/100 km with all-wheel drive.

Honda CR-V

Compact SUVs are popular for their practicality and capability. However, the fuel consumption of these cars can climb quickly. The Honda CR-V stands out in its class with the same combined fuel consumption as the Mazda CX-3.

Ford Escape

The Americans also have their place on the charts with the Ford Escape, a very popular SUV on the market. Although it now offers hybrid variants for even better fuel economy, its base gasoline engine remains economical at 7.8 L/100 km.

Subaru Outback

Sometimes the compact SUV just isn’t enough, the mid-size SUV offers both more space and capability. The Subaru Outback has all-wheel drive, a 920L trunk and a total capacity of 2,144 L, yet averages only 8.2L/100km.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Duramax

There are several engines available in the Silverado, but its diesel engine gives it a fuel consumption of only 8.9 L/100 km when opting for the 4×2 drive. If all-wheel drive is a necessity, this engine still gives it an average of 9.4 L/100 km, which is more frugal than many compact SUVs!
